Step by step: Visual Studio Code on the AgentBox, next to the agent writing the code
Updated 10/18/2026
Even with vibe coding there comes a moment when you want to see the code with your own eyes: read a function, change a value, search the project. That is what an editor is for, and on an AgentBox you install it with one click: Visual Studio Code, on the cloud desktop, right next to the terminal where the agent works.
Step 1: install the editor
On the AgentBox tab, under Apps, click Install on Code editor. The box gets VS Code from the official repository, updated along with the system. Open it from the applications menu, in the Desktop view.
Step 2: set up your desk
Pick the Side by side view: the terminal with the agent on the left, the desktop with VS Code on the right. Open the project folder in the editor and from now on you watch in real time the files the agent creates and changes. The fullscreen button turns the arrangement into a proper desk, and on a second monitor you forget the box is in the cloud at all.
Step 3: read, not just ask
When the agent finishes a piece, take a look: the folder structure, the key function, the config file. You do not need to be a programmer to build the healthy habit of skimming the code; and if you are one, this is where you fix the small slips directly, instead of describing a two-character change in words.
Step 4: split the work
The flow that works: the agent builds, you review in the editor and leave comments or TODOs in the code, then tell the terminal resolve the TODOs I left in the project. Your edits in VS Code are instantly visible to the agent, because you both work on the same files on the same box. No commits, pushes or syncing between the two of you.
Step 5: from anywhere
The surprising part: this whole desk runs from a browser. Close the laptop, open the console on another computer, and the editor is exactly as you left it, same files open. The project, the agent and the editor live together on the box, as described in the guide on ditching the always-on PC. If you want an editor built around AI, see Cursor on the AgentBox too.
What you end up with
- VS Code next to the agent's terminal, same box, same files.
- Review and direct fixes, with no syncing.
- A complete development desk, reachable from any browser.
