Step by step: antivirus on the AgentBox, with a weekly scan and a report on the Desktop
Updated 10/18/2026
An AI agent that works on the internet downloads things: attachments, archives, installers, files from clients. Your own computer has an antivirus for exactly this reason, and the AgentBox deserves the same treatment. The good news: here the install is a single click, and the scan schedules itself.
Step 1: install Antivirus
On the AgentBox tab, under Apps, click Install on Antivirus. The box gets ClamAV, the established open source antivirus on Linux, with the signature update service switched on automatically. From this moment the signature database refreshes itself with no intervention.
Step 2: what it does on its own
Once a week, on Saturday night, the box scans all of the agent's files at low priority, so nothing running is disturbed. The report lands on the Desktop as antivirus-report.txt: you see it in the Desktop view, or in the morning you ask the agent summarise the antivirus report on the Desktop.
Step 3: scans on demand
For freshly downloaded files you do not wait for Saturday. In the terminal:
Scan the archive you just downloaded with clamscan before you extract it.
You can make this a standing rule: tell the agent once to scan any executable or archive before opening it, and the instruction stays in its working memory for the sessions that follow.
Step 4: if something shows up
A hit in the report is not a reason to panic: it is a file to delete or quarantine. Ask the agent delete the files flagged in the report and tell me where they came from, and the box's journal keeps the record. For boxes running anything important, pairing this with the nightly backup from the AgentBox console closes the loop: even in the worst case, you have something to restore from.
What you end up with
- An antivirus with automatic updates, installed in one click.
- A scheduled weekly scan with the report on the Desktop.
- On-demand scans for everything the agent downloads.
